Ouirgane Valley & Tinmel Mosque Day Trip
Pine forests, a mountain river and a 12th-century Almohad mosque.
01Overview
The road to the Tizi n'Test: the green Ouirgane valley, Berber villages and the restored Almohad mosque of Tinmel, one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims.
Tinmel was the cradle of the Almohad dynasty in the 12th century. Its mosque, restored and roofless, is a forest of horseshoe arches open to the sky. The drive there follows the N7 through Asni and the pine-covered Ouirgane valley — one of the most peaceful places in the Atlas, ideal for lunch by the river.
